Description | Iodargyrite (also called iodyrite) is a silver mineral, having composition AgI. It is found in oxidized parts of silver deposits. Most of this photograph is limonite; the iodargyrite is in the form of small transparent-translucent, glassy to pearly, crystals up to 5 mm in long dimension. The crystals are not easily seen unless you examine this photo at high magnification. This entire specimen about 4 cm across. The white splotch is paint with a sample number. |
