DescriptionCrossite is an amphibole mineral with formula Na2(Mg,Fe)3(Al,Fe)2Si8O22(OH)2. It forms at high pressure and relatively low temperature. Crossite is named for Charles Whitman Cross a geologist who worked for the United States Geological Survey. This sample is about 5 cm across.
