DescriptionValley of the Gods, north of Mexican Hat, Utah, is an area of spires, buttes and small mesas carved from Cedar Mesa Sandstone (Permian). The rocks exposed here, mostly of Permian age, can also be seen in Monument Valley, 10 miles to the southwest where the Cedar Mesa Sandstone is the major cliff former.
