DescriptionTremolite is a form of asbestos and a member of the amphibole family. It has the chemical of Ca2Mg5Si8O22(OH)2. Tremolite is fairly common and is an important temperature indicator for petrologists because at high temps, it will convert to dolomite. It occurs from the conversion of dolomite, silica and water into tremolite, calcite and carbon dioxide. This sample is about 6 cm.
