TitleJadeite
DescriptionJadeite is one of the two minerals called jade. It is a member of the pyroxene series. It has the chemical formula of NaAlSi2O6. Jadeite has been a mystery to geologists for centuries because they could not determine its source. Jadeite is now known to form in only high pressure and temperature regimes that are coincident with continent to continent collisions. Some countries it can be found in are Burma, Yunan, China, and Japan. This sample is approximately 4 cm.
