TitleGoethite pseudomorphous after pyrite from Pelican Point, Utah
DescriptionThe brown cubes (all about 1 cm3 in size) were originally pyrite, FeS2, but have oxidized to become goethite, FeO(OH). They are termed pseudomorphs because the crystals still have the shape of the original pyrite crystals.
