Description | The dark brown, slightly copper colored, mineral is domeykite, Cu3As (copper arsenide). It is accompanied by quartz. Domeykite is a minor ore of copper, and also sometimes is used for ornamental purposes. It can be cut and polished and made into attractive cabochons, clocks, bookends and carvings with unuusal color. This specimen, from the well known copper mining district in Michigan's Upper Penninsula, is 8 cm across. |
