TitlePyrite on a glacial pebble
DescriptionThis is a cobble, polished by glacial ice. It shows shiny pyrite veins, FeS2 (iron sulfide). Pyrite is sometimes called “fool's gold” because of its color, but real gold is more “butter” yellow and has a less metallic luster. This specimen is 12 cm across.
