DescriptionThis specimen, about 9 cm across, conatains gray galena (PbS) crystals with brownish-red marcasite (FeS2) in spaces between them. Galena often forms as well-developed cubes and related shape, as can be seen here. This specimen comes from Joplin, Missouri, a well-know mining area. Galena is the principle ore mineral for lead.
