TitleGalena
DescriptionGalena (PbS) is the most common lead ore mineral. Its high density, cubic cleavage, and gray metallic color are distinctive. (This sample, 9 cm wide, has limonite coating on the outside.) Perfectly formed galena crystals may be cubes, but many other shapes are possible. The sample here contains several crystals grown together.
