TitleBotryoidal smithsonite
DescriptionThis sample of smithsonite comes from an unknown location in Montana. It precipitated from water, giving it the botryoidal (grape like) appearance you see here. Smithsonite, ZnCO3, is a minor zinc ore mineral. There are few other minerals that can have this green color or habit; prehnite is the only relatively common one.
