Title | Antimony, Kern Co., California |
Description | Antimony is most commonly found as a minor component in metallic sulfide or oxide minerals. The specimen shown (3 cm across) contains rare native antimony (Sb). Native antimony is generally indistinguishable from native arsenic (As) without analytical tests. Specimens of antimony always contain some arsenic, and may also contain silver, iron, or sulfur. On a fresh or preserved surface, antimony has a tin-white color with a slight blue tinge. Otherwise, it is dark gray due to tarnish. |
