DescriptionNatron, an evaporite mineral, occurs as a precipitate when alkaline waters evaporate. It is close in composition to trona, and the two minerals are often found together and difficult to distinguish. Its chemical composition is Na2CO3ยท10(H2O) (hydrated sodium carbonate). The largest piece shown is 4 cm long.
