DescriptionTilleyite is one of those rare minerals that is both a silicate and a carbonate. It has formula Ca5Si2O7(CO3)2 and is found in contact-metamorphic high-temperature marbles. It is often associated with wollastonite, vesuvianite, garnet and calcite. In this marble from Crestmore, California, it has a greenish color, but it is more typically white.
