| Description | This sample, abaout 12 cm across, contains small crystals of transparent ankerite. The specimen is actually upside down; the ankerite precipitated on stalactitic limestone. Ankerite's ideal formula is CaFe(CO3)2 but there is always a significant amount of magnesium amd manganese substitution for the iron. |
