Description | This specimen, 6 cm across, contains green natrochalcite and blue kroehnkite. It comes from Chuquicamata, Chile. These are both secondary copper minerals, generally forming in veins or as crusts associated with copper ore deposits. Natrochalcite has formula NaCu2(SO4)2(OH,H2O)2, and krohnkite has formula Na2Cu(SO4)2ยท2(H2O). |
