Description | Gypsum has many different appearances. Often it is massive and fine grained. Fine grained varieties are called alabaster. Fibrous varieties are called satin spar. Coarser, clear bladed varieties are called selenite. This sample of alabaster from southern Michigan is about 7 cm wide. |
