Title | Stalactitic gypsum from Nicaragua |
Description | This sample formed when gypsum crystallized from slowly flowing water. Drops collected and, as they evaporated, gypsum was deposited. Eventually these small stalactites developed. Most stalactites in caves are made of calcite, but gypsum formations are found in many places. This specimen is 16 cm wide. |
