| Title | Linarite, malachite, quartz, cerussite and cuprite from Tiger, Arizona, USA |
| Description | The blue mineral is linarite, PbCuSO4(OH)2, and the green is mostly malachite, Cu2(CO3)(OH)2. Minor greenish-gray cerussite, PbCO3, appears on the left edge. Deep red-brown cuprite, CuO, forms several small patches. Orangish quartz is on the top edge. This sample is typical of oxidized (altered) zones of copper-lead ore deposits. Many spectacular minerals come from such environments, but the many blue and green secondary copper minerals can be hard to tell apart. This specimen is 5 cm across. |
