This sample comes from the famous Searles Lake playa deposits near Trona, California. The Searles Lake deposits contain many other evaporite minerals, including borax, burkeite, galeite, gaylussite, halite, hanksite, mirabilite, nahcolite, northupite, pirssonite, schairerite, searlesite, sulphohalite, teepleite, thenardite, tincalconite, trona, and tychite.
