Description | Anhydrite is a relatively common chemical sedimentary mineral that forms massive rock layers. It does not precipitate directly, but is the result of the dewatering of the beds of gypsum CaSO4•2H2O. Coarsely crystalline and beautiful anhydrite specimens are extremely rare dispite its common occurrance. This sample is 10 cm across. |
