Description | This sample, from Deer Lodge County in southwestern Montana, contains tan and white colored barite and black galena. It is about 6.5 cm wide. Barite is barium sulfate and galena is lead sulfide. Both are commonly associated in ore deposits, and Deer Lodge County has historically been a well known mining area. |
