Title | Gold in a silicified volcanic rock |
Description | This sample from the University of North Dakota Mineralogy Collection was labelled “Gold, Court House Mine, Montana.” The location of that mine is unknown. The specimen is 6 cm across, and contains lots of visible gold. Most gold ores contain very fine gold that is not visible with the naked eye. This sample contains yellow flakes, wires and pods of gold up to 0.8 cm across. The sample is highly altered but appears to originally have been a volcanic rock. |
