DescriptionBituminous coal is the most common type of coal. It is also called “soft coal” because it is not as hard as anthracite. Bituminous coal burns moderately hot and contains less water and other volatiles than many lower grade coals. It is commonly of Carboniferous age. This sample is 10 cm wide.
