TitleManganite with quartz
DescriptionThis specimen contains black manganite and white-salmon colored quartz. Manganite, MnO(OH), has sometimes been a valuable manganese ore mineral. It is, however, quite rare. Manganite's black, prismatic, and usually striated crystals are keys to identification. Crystals often group to form bundles or clusters. Columnar, massive and fiberous forms are also known. If manganite is massive, it is difficult to distinguish it from other manganese minerals.
