Title | Searching for olivine at San Carlos, Arizona |
Description | Olivine, some of it in quite large near gem-quality peridot crystals, is mined from pits on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation, Arizona. Those who obtain special permission may get access to the pits and search for themselves. As can be seen in this photo, there is lots of green olivine. Large crystals, however, are sometimes a bit difficult to find because the area has been well picked over. |
