TitleHot basalt in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
DescriptionHawaii Volcanoes National Park has had nearly continuous basaltic eruptions for many years. During the past decade (1995-2005), intrepid hikers have walked out from the Chain of Craters Road to see the hot lava while it is still glowing, and where it (sometimes) enters the ocean. The flow shown here comes from the Puu Oo vent of Kilauea Volcano.
