Title | Fold below an unconformity |
---|---|
Description | Fold below an unconformity. This is a vertical photo of low tide exposures. Cretaceous sandstones and conglomerates at the upper left dip in that direction at about 20 degrees. The bulk of the photo comprises the Ordovician Greenland Group graywackes with nearly vertically plunging axes. The beds were cleaved in a mid-Paleozoic deformation and then upended by a probably Cretaceous core-complex event. This second deformation reactivated the older cleavages, utilizing many of them for flexural slip folding.
