DescriptionThis specimen is a piece of almandine fractured from a large boulder at the world famous Gore Mountain Mine (Barton Mines Corporation), Adirondack Mountains, USA. Almandine is iron-aluminum garnet, having ideal composition Fe3Al2Si3O12. It may contain magnesium, manganese or calcium as significant impurities. This sample is about 20 cm in longest dimension.
