TitleLow angle detachment on the Newberry Fault
DescriptionLow angle detachment on the Newberry Fault, Newberry Mts., Nevada (West side of the Colorado River). The Newberry Mts. form a metamorphic core complex with Tertiary granite in the footwall (green and chloritized -light colored- in photo) and dark red brown, oxidized and fractured granite in the hanging wall in this image. The Newberry Mts. are interpreted to be structurally linked with the Black Mts. on the east side of the Colorado River in Arizona. Transport was to the northeast; the Black Mts. are interpreted as the caldera complex associated with the Newberry pluton.
