Title | Turret Rock from the center of Upheaval Dome |
---|---|
Description | Turret Rock from the center of Upheaval Dome in Canyonlands National Park, Utah. Here, the Moenkopi Fm. is cut by the early, small normal fault, and then at least three younger thrust faults, two of which have associated anticlines. Upheaval Dome is a bit enigmatic - some argue that it is the deeply eroded part of an impact structure; others argue that it represents the aftermath of a detached salt diapir. The kinematics of this one outcrop have tortured the minds of several students. |
