TitleGrand Forks Greenway Project-Riverside Dam, Grand Forks County, North Dakota
DescriptionThe Riverside Dam has been modified from a low-head dam to a rock dam. The dam is located north of Riverside Park in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The low-head dam was modified in the summer of 2001 primarily for safety concerns. Other advantages of the modificiation include improved upstream fish passage and erosion reduction. The curved shape of the dam channels water toward the center of the river. The reconfigured Riverside Dam will be the northern most point of a paved trail system that will consist of many miles along the Red River in the Grand Forks/East Grand Forks Greenway.
