TitleFancy yellow diamond
DescriptionDiamond, elemental carbon (C), is the hardest substance found in nature, diamond is four times harder than the next hardest natural mineral, corundum (sapphire and ruby). Diamond comes from the Greek word “adamas,” meaning “I tame.” The beautiful hues of colored diamonds are caused by the presence and distribution of small amounts of nitrogen (yellow) or boron (blue) within the diamond. This sample is a princess cut diamond, with the color/clarity rating being VS1. The size is 0.63 carats. The diamond in this picture is courtesy of The Jewel Box, Grand Forks, ND.
