DescriptionTitanite (sphene), CaTiSiO5, is often an accessory mineral in igneous and metamorphic rocks. Generally it exists as quite small grains. Large specimens, such as this one from a pegmatite near Eganville, Ontario, are occasionally found. Quartz also can be seen. This sample is about 6.5 cm across.
