Title | Grossular (garnet), Lake Jaco, Mexico |
Description | Grossular is calcium-aluminum garnet, and has ideal formula, Ca3Al2Si3O12. Grossular, however, is rarely pure. Because composition varies, it comes in many different colors. It may be colorless, yellow, orange, green, red, grey or black. Well formed crystals are usually dodechahedral (12 sided), but his specimen does not show that symmetry. |
