TitleView of Yosemite Valley, California, looking east
DescriptionThis classic view of Yosemite Valley shows some of the valley's most famous features. The prominent buttress on the left is El Capitan. Across from it is Bridalveil Falls. In the far distance, the pointed peak is the summit of half dome. This valley was carved by glacial ice and has the classic ā€œUā€ shape attributed to glaciers. Bridalveil Falls and the other famous falls (out of site) occur where hanging valleys join the main valley. The rock outcrops in this photo are mostly made of the El Capitan Granite.
