DescriptionJointed and cross-bedded sandstone (quartzite) of the North Shore Volcanic Group exposed along Lake Superior shoreline, Leif Ericson Park, Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota. Rubble beach consists of basalts and other Late Proterozoic volcanics and sandtones. The primarily basaltic finer-grained sediments produce a black sand beach.
