Title | Pyrophyllite |
Description | Pyrophyllite, Al2Si4O10(OH)2 (aluminum silicate hydroxide), is an early stage metamorphic mineral and is quite common. Pyrophyllite exfoliates when water is driven off upon heating, leaving a flaky mass. Pyrophyllite and talc are isomorphous. Pyrophyllite gets its name from the Greek words for fire and leaf, as in “fire-leaf”. |
