Description | Sepiolite is a silicate with the chemical formula, Mg4Si6O15(OH)2·6(H2O). It is a secondary mineral associated with serpentine. Sepiolite may precipitate from alkali saline waters in arid environments. The name comes from the Greek sepia, meaning “cuttlefish” and lithos, meaning “stone”. |
