TitleGlacial valley and tarn on the way to Muir Pass, near Mt. Whitney, Sierra Nevada Mountains
DescriptionThis broad valley was carved by a glacier. It is surrounded and floored by granite bedrock and bolders and contains many small tarns. The rocks shown in this picture are part of the Sierra Nevada Batholith. It is really not one intrusive body but instead is a Mesozoic aged collection of granitic plutons.
