Description | Tungstite, hydrated tungsten oxide (WO3·H2O), forms as an alteration product of wolframite, (Fe,Mn)WO4, and other tungsten minerals. Here it is earthy to yellow, and associated with whitish scheelite, CaWO4. Tungstite is relatively common in tungsten ore deposits. This sample is about 5 cm across. |
