Description | A member of the vivianite group, annabergite is the nickel analogue of erythrite, a cobalt mineral. The bright green color is characteristic and is used by miners to identify nickel ore. Miners refer to annabergite as “nickel bloom.” It has general formula Ni3(AsO4)2·8(H2O) and is often found as a green alteration coating on other nickel minerals. This specimen is 9 cm across. |
