DescriptionRutile, TiO2 (titanium dioxide), is an opaque to transparent mineral with an adamantine luster. It frequently occurs as well developed crystals that are striated and possess distinct prismatic and pyramidal cleavages. In color rutile may be red, reddish brown, or black and the streak is yellow or pale brown.
