DescriptionThis sample is about 10 cm. Diopside's chemical formula is CaMgSi2O6. Diopside is a member of the pyroxene group. Diopside is rock forming mineral in several metamorphic and igneous rocks. Diopside comes from the Greek “dis-” meaning “two kinds” and “opsis-” meaning “opinion”. The best diopside samples come from Italy.
