Title | Franklinite with magnetite |
Description | This sample of franklinite, (Zn,Fe,Mn)(Fe,Mn)2O4 (zinc iron manganese oxide), is about 13 cm in diameter. It is very heavy due to the presence of magnetite, which also gives the sample a slight magnetic charge. Franklinite is found in large enough quantity to serve as a ore of zinc and manganese, two important strategic and industrial metals. |
