TitleFranklinite with magnetite
DescriptionThis sample of franklinite, (Zn,Fe,Mn)(Fe,Mn)2O4 (zinc iron manganese oxide), is about 13 cm in diameter. It is very heavy due to the presence of magnetite, which also gives the sample a slight magnetic charge. Franklinite is found in large enough quantity to serve as a ore of zinc and manganese, two important strategic and industrial metals.
