DescriptionThis sample of specularite is from the island of Elba. Specularite is a black or gray variety of hematite, Fe2O3 (iron oxide), with splendant metallic luster and often showing iridescence. It occurs in micaceous or foliated masses or in tabular or disklike crystals.
