Title | Berthierite with stibnite from Pribham, Bohemia |
Description | Berthierite, FeSb2S4 (iron antimony sulfide), is easily confused with the closely related mineral stibnite. Characteristic wise, berthierite differs from stibnite in being found more frequently in acicular to fibrous clusters, having a brown streak and non flexible crystals. Sibnite, Sb2S3 (antimony sulfide), is a classic mineral species with fine crystal clusters and long curved crystals. The curving of the long bladed crystals is due to twinning where one twin plane bends the crystal one direction and another twin plane bends it in the other direction. |
