Description | The gray material, showing a metallic luster in places, is hessite, Ag2Te (silver telluride). It is common in tellurium rich silver-gold ores. Although not seen here, it may form pseudo-cubic crystals which can be cut by a knife (it is sectile). It is one of a few minerals that exhibit this property. This specimen is 4 cm across. |
