DescriptionThis specimen contains needles of stibnite (up to 4 cm long) radiating through quartz. Stibnite, Sb2S3 (antimony sulfide), is an important ore mineral for antimony (Sb). It is commonly deposited by alkaline waters and occurs in association with quartz, calcite, sulfides of the base metals, arsenic, gold, and silver. Antimony is used for many things, including alloy production, bearing manufacturing, fireworks and medicine.
