Description | The gold-yellow mineral here is chalcopyrite. The non-yellow (darker bronze-gray) material is pyrrhotite mixed with magnetite. These are all important copper (Cu) and iron (Fe) ore minerals - chalcopyrite has composition CuFeS2, pyrrhotite is Fe1-xS and magnetite is Fe3O4. The specimen is 9 cm in longest dimension. |
